The University of Nairobi has expanded its commitment towards Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by signing a memorandum of understanding with I Choose Life – Africa (ICL).

The partnership, which offers an opportunity for the University of Nairobi to collaborate with ICL as a partner during Nairobi Innovation Week 2018, will see the two institutions designing interventions such as; Clean Energy for better health and education outcomes, Improving learning outcomes through technology in education, and improving adolescent and youth Sexual Reproductive Health And Rights (SRHR) through a holistic program design.

ICL further committed its alliance to the course through financial sponsorship by donating one million Kenya shillings to the Nairobi Innovations Week 2018.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr Mike Mutungi, the Founder and CEO of ICL, stated that the focal point of the interventions will be to solve problems in different communities in Kenya and Africa. 

The University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor and Sponsor of Innovation Week 2018, Prof. Peter M. F. Mbithi, commended the move adding that it will develop students’ knowledge, skills, and values from direct experiences outside a traditional academic setting.

“Active involvement of strategic partners will boost our students’ experiential learning experience since it is one of the key pillars of research and scholarly excellence at the University of Nairobi”. He added.
